Read this article and answer the following questions on global warming and climate change.

1. What are some reasons that global emissions have been the highest ever recorded and what effect does this increase in emissions have on the world?

2. What are 3 abnormal weather occurrences in 2012 and what was it caused by?

  1. 1. Global emissions have been there highest because of the dramatic increase in CO2 emissions in LEDC nations. For example, although the United States, a developed nation has decreased its carbon footprint, developing nations such as China and India have emissions that outweigh the decrease in American emissions. Overall, an increase in emissions can harm the world by polluting the air(making it harder to breath) and whole ecosystems due to excessive amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere. An increase in emissions would effect basically every organism on Earth.

    2. 3 abnormal weather occurrences in 2012 were, blistering winter heat waves, drought through out the corn belt, and a massive storm in the east. These abnormal weather conditions were most likely caused by climate change and the increasing and record temperatures recorded that year.

  2. 1. The cause it that although the MEDCs are lowering their footprint, LEDCs are starting to pollute more because of their reliance on coal. Effects include rising temperatures and changing weather patterns.

    2. Droughts, Heatwaves and severe storms. It is cause by the dramatically changing weather and temperature.

  3. 1. Reasons for high global emissions have been the result of lower economically developing countries such as India and China (which has the worst pollution yet). These developing countries rely mainly on coal burning power plants and they have a lack of environmental awareness. By them polluting much more than more economically developing countries, these countries cause an increase in temperatures, acidification, and many other problems.

    2. Three abnormal weather occurrences in 2012 were heat waves, droughts, and severe storms. These were caused by climate change because of high temperatures due to global warming.

  4. 1) As developing countries build themselves up, they do so a great deal through industry. The industrial sectors of these countries, such as China, contribute greatly do polluting harmful gasses into the air through their use of coal and other fossil fuels.

    2) In 2012, the world experienced heat waves, powerful storms such as Hurricane Sandy, and severe droughts. All of these effects can be linked to higher global temperature.

  5. With many countries now developed, and others developing, there is a large amount of industry. This indusrty creates a lot of pollution.

    HUrricanes, droughts, tornados, and storms.
this can be attributed to global warming and rising temperatuers.

  6. 1- Some of the reasons for global emissions to have been extremely high are the fact that countries still in a development state have had very high CO2 emissions in the last few years. This increase in emissions have a bad effect on the world as a whole as it affects our air, temperatures which can result in bad conclusions for the world.

2- The world went through droughts, heat waves and storms in 2012, which can all be linked to global warming in general.

  7. 1. Global emissions have been the highest ever recorded recently because since the Industrial Revolution, we have been burning and using more resources than ever before at a much quicker rate. Although most MEDCs realize this and are working together to try to decrease their own emissions, the increasing emissions of LEDCs outweigh theirs. (The US has decreased their emissions by a couple percent but China has increase theirs by 10-20 percent, canceling out the efforts of the US). The increase in emissions can have a multitude of horrible effects- it would cause organisms including humans to have to breath in these particles that are damaging to our health, and it can destroy ecosystems.

    2. Three abnormal weather occurrences are droughts, severe storms and heat waves. These are all mainly caused by the dramatic changes in temperature and climate.

  8. 1. Some reasons why global emissions have been the highest ever recorded is due to the continued growth in developing countries like China and India. Coal, the dirtiest and most carbon-intensive fossil fuel, is growing fastest. This increase in emissions add more pollution to the air and cause various effects such as health, biodiversity, and so on.

    2. Three abnormal weather occurrences in 2012 are heat waves, drought and severe storms. It was caused by temperature changes.

  9. 1. The growth of emissions in developing nations such as China exceeds any reductions in CO2 emissions in the world's most advanced countries. While the United States has increased its use of natural gas, China and India rely heavily on coal, the dirtiest and heaviest carbon fuel. The global effect of emissions increases has resulted in continued global warming.
    2. The year 2012 was the hottest year on record in the United States. Strong summer thunderstorms pumped water high into the stratosphere which impacted the ozone layer. Arctic sea ice has set a new low, melting faster than predicted.
Atmospheric scientist James G. Anderson says, "It's the union between ozone loss and climate change that is really at the heart of this."

  10. 1. Some reasons that global emissions have been the higher recently is because since the industrial revolution, we have been burning fossil fuels at high rates. LEDCs emissions are beginning to outweigh the emissions of the MEDCs. The increase in emissions has lots of negative effects, Like that it would cause organisms to breath in the emission, which damages our health and can then lead to destroying our ecosystems.

    2. Three abnormal weather occurrences are droughts, severe storms and heat waves, which are all mainly caused by dramatic changes in temperature and climate.

  11. 1) Some reasons for why emissions have been higher recently could be: Developing countries as they continue in size more is needed, the increase in the of fossil fuels, also the contrast in the emissions from LEDC's and MEDC's. This build up of emissions has a very negative effect overall. Organisms that breath it in are harmed, and it leads to respiratory problems. Also it effects our different ozones.

2.Abnormal weather conditions include: harsher winters, hotter and stronger summers(such as the year of 2012 being the hottest summer since the early 1900'ds) , along with more common droughts.
